"I wanted to capture a moment of siblings relating. My memories of when my kids were about middle school age... and I would occasionally discover them starting to express their opinions and feelings to each other in a surprisingly sensitive way. Those times are few and precious... when we get a little glimpse of maturity happening before our eyes. This piece speaks of the strength of sibling relationships built on a foundation of shared background. The sentiment ‘By my side’ alludes to the unspoken support and consistent presence that we can take for granted when we’re children but grow to appreciate as we age. The figurine acknowledges the realisation that your brother or sister was always there for you. The sentiment could also imply that regardless of where our sibling is he or she is truly always by our side."
