Removing Wasps Nests
Being stung by wasps can sometimes be a nasty experience. Those who have allergies to wasps can suffer from anaphylactic shock and even death. So it is important to take precautionary measures when outdoors and in the presence of a wasps or a nest. If a wasp’s nest is located in an area where there are frequent passers-by, it should be taken care of as soon as possible with the appropriate pest control. When wasp’s nests become disturbed they will attack in large groups. It is not unusual for a wasp nest to contain thousands of wasps at once.
Wasps begin building nests in the spring and this is the best time to treat them as they will contain fewer wasps. By summer time the average nest can be 30cm in width, although they can grow even larger in open spaces.
There are many different types of pest control available. You should always keep a spare tin of wasp spray for those pesky insects that can sometimes enter through a window or an open door. If you frequently have wasps entering your home you should have a look around the exterior of your house to see if you can see where the wasps are coming from. The location of a wasps nest can depend on the species of wasp. Wasps nests are produced from paper pulp or wood, the type of would they use also depend on the species. Sometimes the types of wasps can be identified from the colour of the nest, as the wood that one particular species uses may differ in colour compared to another. Typical places for wasp’s nests to be found include garden sheds, near trampoline covers of large pools of plastic. Take great care when trying to locate these nests, because when you are searching for them you could be a lot closer than you think. There are methods of pest control that can be used when you find a wasp’s nest. One method that can be used comes in a powder form and the other method that can be used is chemical foam; both are very effective ways of destroying a wasp’s nest.
DO NOT attempt to locate or treat a wasp‘s nest if you think that you may have an allergy to the insect. If this is the case and you think there may be a nest nearby you should call a professional for help in removing the nests.
